  The roars of pain of danger filtered through the air. Voltek jumped up. Berlise ran to the door and yelled to the guards, but Voltek heard the yells.

  “Hunters of the gods.”

  “Grab her, and let’s go,” Voltek said, and they undid the chains as she gained consciousness.

  “The children, Cable’t. Find out where they are,” she said to him as she fell back down, and then her mates appeared.

  Her eyes went to them and their angry expressions. “Alexandra.”

  Heracio fell to his knees and lifted her gently into his arms. She saw their changed eyes and then she heard the guttural cries from Voltek. She didn’t turn to look, but once Cable’t and Preston appeared she began to relax.

  “Are you okay? What did they do to you?” Preston asked.

  “The children?” she asked.

  “We will send men out now to stop what trucks we can. We may be too late on some of the others, but obviously something more is going on here. The Council will be made aware of this. I think that new team of enforcers needs to start investigating now,” Preston said.

  She nodded and held onto Heracio, pressed her face against his neck, and breathed him in. The others touched her, caressed her skin, and she felt their protective shield.

  “Why did you let them take you, Alexandra?” Preston asked, obviously angry at her decision.

  She looked at him, his anger apparent by that scowl and his glowing eyes of green and yellow, his wolf.

  “I couldn’t let them get your mother, she is the Alphas’ mate to your pack, and the children Preston. The children need protecting,” she said, and then felt her body go weak.

  “She needs rest. She was probably drugged. Let’s get her home and get all these children back to where they belong,” Sauder told them.

  “I will meet you at your home,” Cable’t said, and then gave her a wink and disappeared.

  “Lionel. Make sure we get Lionel safely back. He tried to protect me,” she said to them, and they smiled, then looked toward the doorway. There he stood, and made his way closer. The wolves smiled and she sat up, Preston fixed her blouse and she opened her arms to him and he ran to her and hugged her tight.

  “We’re going home, Lionel. You’re safe now, and I promise to watch over you always.
