In the Darkest Hour Read online

  Alaska was surprised to see Marina’s car outside of Misty’s house. When Misty called, it sounded like she didn’t want anyone to know they were meeting and that she was embarrassed. It had already been a hell of a morning as she waited for the outside investigative committee to question a few of the civilian clients of Guy’s. One woman, Amanda, seemed adamant and then super scared. Michael said there were major concerns and he would be in touch later today. She glanced at the clock knowing that she would be heading to meet the guys for lunch in thirty minutes. She hoped she didn’t have to cancel because Misty sounded so serious and scared. As she got to the front door and waited, she had a funny feeling in her gut. When a man opened the door and smiled in greeting, her concern went up a notch. She squinted.

  “Hi, can I help you?” he asked.

  “I’m looking for Misty Ann.”

  “Oh sure, she’s inside. She’s just feeling a little under the weather but her other friend is in there talking to her.” He ushered her inside. He directed her to the back room talking about Marina coming over and bringing some flowers. It was too late when she walked in and saw Misty Ann on the bed, her shirt lifted and cuts along it, and Marina on the floor, a syringe next to her and her skirt lifted and her top undone. She turned just as he stuck a needle into her neck, and she struck him in the nose. She broke his nose and he hollered in pain and she struck him again. She could feel the drugs he gave her begin to immediately enter her bloodstream, but she kept swinging and swinging, and he tackled her to the rug. She scratched at his face, tearing his beard right from it. Her vision blurred and she wondered if that was real, but then it didn’t matter as he roared in anger and called her all kinds of names. He dragged her by her ankles and then struck her again and again. She couldn’t even fight, and by the time he dragged her to the front of the house and dropped her, she was totally tripping out on the drugs. The room spun and her body lifted, floated, and hovered above the carpeting.

  “You stupid cunt. Fucking bitch!” he roared ,and then she felt the pinch to her neck, saw the evil in his eyes as he stuck her with more drugs. Her vision blurred and she felt as light as a feather. Then she was moving, and the smell of leather filtered through her nostrils. She could see just barely a window, trees, and then darkness overtook her vision.

  “Marina, come on baby. Marina?” Fogerty lifted her up gently as police and paramedics entered the home. He felt sick and immediately concerned for the women and especially Marina who lay on the rug, not moving, skirt to her waist and her blouse undone.

  Misty Ann was talking, her information in bits and pieces, and the damage to her body upsetting to say the least. Fogerty caressed Marina’s cheek. “Come on, sweetie. It’s Fogerty, come on now,” he said to her, and she began to blink her eyes open. He could hear Georgia and Canton trying to talk to Misty Ann. It was all coming together. The video from a woman named Aggy in Clemsfield, the drugs forced on these women to sexually assault them and control their minds.

  “Guy Rogers. Son of a bitch. Alaska was right and now he has her,” Canton said, and he pulled out his cell phone.

  “This is a fucking nightmare. Holy fuck,” Sheriff Tatum Lantern said as he joined the scene and they began to fill him in. When they heard tires squeal and a large black pickup pull up, Fogerty knew it was Magnar and his team. They must have found out that Alaska was taken.

  Then a few minutes later, his brother Lou arrived and hurried to get to Marina. “Is she okay?” he asked and caressed her cheek.

  Marina placed her palm against her head and began to moan just as paramedics were ready to load her onto a gurney and take her to the hospital. Fogerty filled Lou in on the situation.

  “So it’s that asshole Doctor Rogers? He was the one over drugging the men,” he said.

  “We’re pulling it together now. Three’s been an investigation thanks to Alaska,” Caden said.

  “He’s going down. The evidence is piling up big time, but now he knows he’s fucked, and he took Alaska. Where are we with that?” Tatum Lantern asked.

  “He used a rental car. We got a license plate and an APB out on it. He can’t get far. We were minutes from him taking her,” Caden said to them.

  “He raped these women. Abused them, and Alaska figured out he was drugging soldiers and got him investigated. His life is over, but not before he hurts Alaska or does worse. She’s drugged now too, which means she can’t use her capabilities and training. That leaves all of us to find her and rescue her before it’s too late. So where the fuck are we looking? Where could he possibly take her?” Magnar asked.

  “We don’t know. Now that we do know what he’s been doing, we can pull up anything we can find on him, go to his home, the office, and start digging,” Caden said to them.

  “That won’t be fast enough. What about the other women? The ones in Clemsfield? Did he take them to any place between here and there? Any secret spot he used?” Gordo asked.

  “The other Texas Rangers are working on that right now,” Georgia told them.

  The sheriff’s radio went off and he answered the call. “What do you got for me, Michael?” the sheriff asked, and he told them what Michael O’Rourke found out.

  “He owns a place, a cabin three miles from here. Secluded on a small lake. His private getaway. We need to take this slow as not to spook him into doing something drastic,” Sheriff Tatum Lantern said to them.

  “That’s our woman, and this rapist asshole drugged her and maybe did worse. We’re all going in and military style. Alaska saved our lives, and many others,” Asher said to them, and the sheriff nodded.

  “We need him alive, so he can face his victims and they can get closure,” the sheriff told them.

  “No promises,” Gordo said, and they all headed to the location and prepared to infiltrate the cabin and rescue Alaska.

  Dr. Guy Rogers was pacing in the small cabin. He didn’t know what to do. He lost his shit. He fucked up his entire life and all the plans. Hell, Alaska fucked up his life and all his plans. She fucking reported him. He was never going to destroy more soldiers’ lives, and never get his play time with his women. Aggy, Amanda, Misty Ann, and all the others. He even lost the opportunity to fuck Marina. He looked at Alaska now, laying on the floor, bleeding, bruised and battered face, her top ripped, the skirt, too. He beat the crap out of her, and it still wasn’t enough. She wasn’t moving, was barely breathing. If she died, he would never see the light of day again. Who really cares though? He wouldn’t have his women. His partners to act out his fantasies. His true self. A man better than any soldier, stronger, more capable than any man. He was special in so many ways. He licked his lips, felt the swelling, and then his fucked up nose. He wasn’t even good looking anymore.

  The bitch broke my fucking nose. He kicked her in the side, and she moaned and rolled to her side. Her skirt lifted, revealing a firm round ass, thong panties in white. He licked his lips. He could get the last laugh. He could spend what time he had left fucking the woman who ruined everything for him. She came out of nowhere and was all perfect, gorgeous, and every man wanted her, but she was with him. She liked multiple lovers so he would have to be sure he could satisfy her. He walked over to his bag. He looked for the bottle and then the needle. He didn’t want to be sane when he was caught. He could use it as a plea bargaining tool. “I was a drug addict. I didn’t know what I was doing,” he said and set the syringe up and then he did the drugs. Felt it burn through his veins and immediately it was an adrenaline rush. He started to jump up and down and then he was at her again. Tearing at her clothes, screaming at the top of his lungs. He felt invigorated, out of his mind, and then suddenly everything erupted around him. Alaska’s body hit the wall as he threw her, and multiple sets of arms attacked him trying to stop him from having her. “She’s mine! She’s mine!”

  They all could hear the yelling and then things crashing. Magnar, Czeck, Gordo, Asher, Tatum, Caden, Fogerty, and Lou, plus multiple other officers, entered the cabin just as Guy Rogers threw A
laska against the wall. Magnar yelled out and they all went to grab Guy, but he had super human force, like something out of a wild movie. He raged and fought all of them and they realized he was on some kind of drug. He was roaring and foaming from the mouth. They zapped him with the taser twice, and it took several of them to hold him down and cuff him. Then they injected him with two doses of Narcan, and he finally began to come down off the drugs.

  Magnar and his men’s concerns were over Alaska. She was battered, bruised, and completely sedated on drugs, and they didn’t know what this asshole gave her. As paramedics began to arrive and get her set up for the hospital, Magnar was concerned for her life and what she did. She saved Marina, Misty Ann, and so many others from this monster by picking up on his criminal activity.

  “Go with her. Follow her to the hospital. She’s safe now, Magnar. She’s one hell of a woman. Cherish her,” Fogerty said to them, and they were still so angry and upset. They had been scared for her life and even now they didn’t know how badly she was injured or what was yet to come.

  Epilogue

  “Seriously, Asher. I can walk,” Alaska said to him as he carried her out of bed and to the bathtub.

  “Maybe I just like carrying you around. Been doing it the last several weeks.”

  “Hmmm, don’t remind me. God, slow down. I want to look in the mirror and see how much uglier I look.”

  “No,” he said and then set her feet down and began to lift the t-shirt up over her head. He lowered down to kiss her bruised ribs; they were so discolored. Her back had bruising all over it as well. She heard the others and looked up as Asher suckled her nipple on her breast.

  “What is going on in here? You should be sleeping still,” Czeck said as he approached and caressed her hair, then pressed his lips gently to her lips. It finally didn’t hurt anymore to kiss or get kissed.

  “How did it go? What did Tatum say?” she asked.

  “Rogers had been doing this shit for years. Apparently, he had a hatred for soldiers, a jealousy about them and their capabilities. Had been turned down by so many women who only were interested in soldiers. He thought of the idea of drugging women to get what he wanted and to roleplay with them, from drugging the soldiers to weaken them and make them go insane. He had access to a supplier and there ya go. Ten years and a lot of women and men he hurt. The D.A. is on top of things, and Rogers won’t be seeing the light of day for hopefully life,” Magnar told her.

  “My God. All those women and poor soldiers. They looked to him for support and therapy, and he was drugging them, hurting them.” Tears filled her eyes.

  “You stopped it. You saw the signs, read his behavior and that of his patients, and you risked your life to stop him once and for all. Now let’s put it behind us,” Gordo said.

  “Time to make our own happiness and also lots of plans. Number one being, you moving in here,” Czeck said to her as Asher helped her get into the tub.

  She moaned as the hot water hit her sore muscles. She leaned back and closed her eyes. “I’ve been here since I got out of the hospital. I think I already moved in. So what’s the next order of business?” She smirked with her eyes closed.

  “I got a few ideas since all the parts we love are working and not sore,” Gordo said.

  She gasped and opened her eyes. “Gordo!” The others chuckled.

  “We need to make sure that this is perfect,” Magnar teased.

  “It is perfect, because I have all of you and you have me. So I say the next order of business is making love as soon as I’m done soaking,” she said.

  “Alaska, what did I say about who is in charge?” Czeck asked.

  She smiled at him and winked. “The multiple body parts you love so much and that are working,” she replied and laughed as they all started making comments and telling her that she needed discipline and an ass spanking. She was fine with all of the above. She loved them and they loved her, and hopefully there wouldn’t be any other dangers trying to get in the way of that happiness. Not here in Warriorville where soldiers can find their happily ever afters, and women like her can find theirs as well.
